The Moraga Historical Society is dedicated to the preservation of Moraga History. We exist to gather material to establish and develop the activities which illustrate the development of the Moraga Rancho.
What do Samuel Merritt, Charles Crocker, Domingo Ghirardelli and Henry Kaiser have in common? They are all buried at Mountain View Cemetery in Oakland! Dennis Evanosky, author of Mountain View Cemetery, presented an outstanding review of this book, entertaining the audience with vivid stories of the many characters interred there. Thanks again to Nilda Rego for another fascinating speaker.
Wednesday, July 9th is the date for our 24th Annual Potluck Dinner at the Hacienda. Carole Lucas has planned a fun-filled evening with 6:00 social hour and 6:45 dinner. Once again the entrée will come from the Back Forty Texas BBQ with members providing hors d’oeuvres, bread, drinks, salads and dessert. If you haven’t already reserved your space call Carole!
Our Anniversary Banquet is scheduled for Friday, October 10th! Caroline Wood has graciously agreed to host this event at St. Mary’s Soda Center. Cost is $40 and checks made out to Moraga Historical Society can be mailed to Carolyn Wood, 26 Hardy Drive. Our Speaker will be Lochie Paige, Donner Party descendent. Look for the flyer in the mail in September and mark your calendar now!
